Do you like sausage? Of course you do. And what about meatballs? We all love meatballs. What about hot dogs, pate, and bologna sausages? Delicious! Tasty! If you're reading this, there's a good chance that you like food in general. The thing is: we like food too much to be picky or exclusive when it comes to our preferred cuisine. At Sizzle we don't discriminate — we think everyone should be able to enjoy the great taste of any type of edible product, so long as they're over 18 and consenting adults. We're not making a moral judgment one way or another. Sizzle is a sausage-based food product line which was manufactured in the United States by a small, family-owned business in Corvallis, Oregon called Brakefield Foods. The entire product line was discontinued when Brakefield's owner died in 2011, and the business was later sold to Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises (LYE). All of the products were subsequently discontinued after LYE took over. The Sizzle brand is also used on Sizzle Hot dog buns, which are used by several fast food chains. After Brakefield added a can of cole slaw to his product line, the line was soon expanded into other specialty items including hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and chicken patties. The early concept for the line was to make sausages for people who liked vegetables, but there are no specific ingredients indicated on the packaging.Between 2007 and 2010 Brakefield Foods produced a number of novelty items including toys (which were soon discontinued) an "Sizzle-themed" stuffed animal (which were also discontinued) as well as Sizzle cereal. The Sizzle cereal was shaped like tiny hot dogs, and was flavored with marshmallows.Brakefield Foods also manufactured a number of other food products including ketchup, mustard, pickles, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce and jelly. The Sizzle brand has been used on a variety of food products over the years including sauces, condiments and even hot dog buns. The hot dog buns are made in Omaha by J&J Snack Foods Inc., which is owned by AmeriCold Logistics Inc. Sizzle foods were available in most grocery stores in the United States between 2007 and 2011. They were initially distributed to grocery stores in Oregon by Trans-Pacific Foods Inc. of Oregon, but were subsequently distributed by Bimbo Bakeries USA. A "Sizzle Mix" was also available for sale in the United States.
The Sizzle branded hot dog buns are currently manufactured in Omaha, Nebraska, by J&J Snack Foods Inc. of AmeriCold Logistics Inc. The hot dog buns are made by combining Sizzle sausage with a variety of other meats and condiments, before being baked into the bun. With this production method there is no actual sausages within the hot dog buns - instead it is merely a protein rich ingredient in the dough, which induces the flavor of the product to be perceived as one with meat in flavor.
